Happy 6th Birthday, Grayson!

There's no way he's really six years old, that not-so-tiny baby who came into my life and changed my world. He can't be six, because it was only a month ago that I held him in the hospital after his first midnight feeding, and we locked eyes for the first time.  His hair smelled so good, and it was soft and sticking straight up all over his head.  His eyes were so tiny, but they held mine for that moment, and melted my heart forever.
It was just last week that he said "Mama" the first time, and that he taught the other one year olds in his Sunday School to fake sneeze, and that I caught him in his room with three pacifiers in his mouth at once.
I know it was yesterday that he was so proud and embarassed over having his first girlfriend.  And that he wrote his name for the first time.
The time flies by so quickly, but here, in these small moments and memories, he will always remain my small boy.
I love you, Grayson.  Happy Birthday, My Little Man.

Happy Birthday, Grayson! Wow, six. I can“t imagine Dorian being that age! Loved the slideshow.

Happy birthday to Grayson - I hope he had a great day! :)

Happy Birthday Grayson! Time sure does fly! Girlie Girl will be 6 in 2 months. *sniff*

Happy Birthday, Grayson!

P.S: Is the show supposed to play music? Cos I get the audio file in my reader but not the slideshow. And when I came here, there is the slideshow but without the music.

Gloria, you have to click play on the player to hear the music. It's separate from the slideshow.

Happy Birthday to Grayson! I am so proud of you my little childhood friend:) - with him starting school - it makes me think about when we were friends at that age (although I don't believe we ever went to school together) - our friendship was at its strongest during our 6-9 year old years... so crazy that the friends he is pretending with in the school yard now - could last for 20 years!

Julia, that is so funny, because I was thinking the same thing yesterday! I was telling him about all the "firsts" that happened when I was six. Of course, sleeping over at your house was on that list!

My sweet Jessie! You really are a melancholy girl this week. That song, that video, you made me cwy.
I know your boy is growing and your gut instinct is to make him "stop that right now!", but you wont. You wont because you're one of the bestest mommies I've ever known and as much as you want to keep him, you know you must let him go.
This week was the start of a long 12 year path for you. One that wont be easy for you, but will be for your boy because your love will follow him the whole way!

xxoo

Thanks, Meggie. I's all warm and fuzzy now. :)

That first picture of him is heart melting. I love his sticking up hair!!!!!!
Try watching him turn 12 :-(.....

I'm always amazed and frustrated by how fast they grow when I see a marker -- like a pair of pants worn only last fall that looks like floods now -- or hear a word pronounced correctly that only a few weeks ago was pronounced "amminal."

Great post, Jessie, and a belated happy birthday to Grayson.
