Aloha Friday
I keep forgetting about this meme over at An Island Life, but when I saw it this morning I decided to do it again!
So, here's my Aloha Friday question:
What was your first car when you were a teenager?
Mine was a light blue, ten-year-old, Grand Am. I named her Winnie (I had a Pooh Bear dangly thing on the mirror). The windows were immediately covered in all manner of Janis, Jimi, and Dead stickers, and there was a yellow smiley tag on the front. I hardly ever cleaned it, and I and all my friends smoked in it like freight trains. It didn't take long for me to completely trash it, but I loved that little car and the freedom it gave me. Winnie will always have a place in my heart!
Mine was a 1981 Ford Escort (it was 6 years old when I got it). It was the sporty model that had a sunroof and fun stuff like cruise control and a/c, not to mention a radio! We'd never had a radio in my mom's car, so I loved finally being able to listen to music while driving.
PS - there's something for you over on my site, come check it out! :)

Hi Jessie!
My first car was a '72 silver Monte Carlo. Man, that thing looked hot but it didn't run worth a crap. In fact, it had a crack in the distributor cap (which I'll pretend to know all about) and whenever it rained, it would die. I remember one rainy day, I had to drive down the turn lane because it kept dying and I had to keep re-starting it. People would honk at me and I was crying because I just wanted to get to my parents' house so my dad could fix it.
Great question!

My first car was a 1985 Ford Escort!! Navy Blue! What fun I had driving that car. I took it to college with me, then had it the first two years I was married. We finally traded it in for a family car!!

My first car was a gold colored GLC. It was a piece of junk. You felt like you were riding in a tin can! LOL!

Mine was an '83 Honda Accord. I kept it 5 months before it was given to my brother. I rode the cheeze wagon for the rest of my High School life.

Ooops! I forgot about an 82 Firebird that my brother let me drive for a couple of months. It wouldn't turn off. It was so embarassing.

I bought a '76 Ford Granada for $200, which I traded for an '81 Toyota pick-up and $450. I traded the pick-up to my dad for his '79 Honda Civic. I loved that car! It looked like a trash can but it had a brand new Accord engine in it.

My first and I have to say favorite car was a 1968 Volkswagen beetle. It was red with a sunroof and I loved it!

I got to drive the family car in my junior year. It was a 70-something Chevrolet Caprice Classic station wagon, cranberry colored, with an 8-track player. We could pile a whole mess of kids into it (as an adult that idea terrifies me now). It had a huge powerful engine and was very reliable, regardless of how ugly it was.

I got a black 1962 Opal Record for my sixteenth birthday in 1966! My mom had a friend who had brought it from overseas. The speedometer read kilometers and everything was written in German (I guess)! I never saw another car like it. It was like a big black rectangle with tan leather seats. It was a straight shift and got about a zillion miles to the gallon. We went to my mom's friends house (where the car had been hidden) on my birthday. The car started right up and then died and wouldn't start again! I was so disappointed! It was only a bad battery and I was on the road a few hours later. The thing I loved most about it was the horn button on the end of the blinker lever. I could honk at a car ten times before I passed it!
