I'm still here!
I am still here, I swear! We've been doing some adjusting to a new schedule which has thrown my rhythm off completely, but we are still kicking!
There are lots of changes afoot in the Keith home. The biggest I suppose is that our homeschooling has begun in earnest. A big adjustment, let me tell ya! Grayson has basically done whatever he wanted (within reason) with his day for his whole life. He is soo not used to being asked to be still and learn something. The first week was a learning experience for both of us.
Our first day of "school" Grayson was unbelievably excited. The problem is, I don't think he understood the concept of a school year. For our first science unit, we're raising butterflies, and when I told him it took three weeks for them to change from caterpillars to butterflies, he said, "You mean we'll be doing school that long?!" 'Fraid so son, and then some!
So far it's been fun, though. A learning experience for sure, and a major growing experience for me. I didn't realize what a short temper I had, or how much I liked to control Grayson's actions until I saw myself in this new role. It's opened my eyes, and hopefully is changing me for the better.
I give you so much credit. I don't think I have the patience to homeschool. For us, it would be recess all day! hee hee

Patience is the thing I'm learning the most in this whole experience. We've already had one day when, rather than get frustrated and mad, I just called off school for the day. Hopefully we won't have too many of those as Grayson gets used to the routine!

I'm praying for you.
It was absolutely the hardest thing that I ever did in my life....and without a doubt it was the most rewarding! On this side of 12 years of homeschooling - I just say that I am so thankful that God called us to it. Remember you do not have to have "school at home" you want to have "homeschooling". There is a difference.
email me when you need to - I will be a cheerleader for you! :)

I'm so proud of you. You're the best mom, and you and Grayson will figure out what you need. I'm sure Christy would be THRILLED to talk to you anytime you want

Happy first day of school! How brave of you!
Also, just fyi, in the real world I am a teacher (actually a math coach, I teach teachers how to teach) so feel free to email with any questions :)

I am in awe of your bravery; no matter what you think of your temper length, know that you are made of sterner stuff than I am. What a wonderful gift you are giving to those boys!
