Sew Magical!
I sewed, I sewed, I finally sewed!! I have been wanting to learn to use a sewing machine for ages. I never took home ec or home management or whatever they called it when I was in school, so I just never learned. Well, since I had my boys I there have been several times when I've gone begging to my mom, who does sew beautifully, to make this or that for them. As nice as that is, there is a certain satisfaction that comes from doing something yourself. Plus there are lots of things I would like to make that aren't important enough to bother mom with, but would be really cool to have. Case in point, my first EVER sewing project, a magician's cape for Grayson!
We bought the material yesterday, and bless his heart he thought I would just whip him up a cape before bedtime. So, since he was so excited, I decided today was the day. It didn't take as long as I thought, or turn out as badly as I feared. Grayson LOVES it. Big time. He swirled around the house all day, enjoying the way it swished around him. I think besides feeling special, he also felt pretty cool. What do you think?
Being the sweety that he is, he didn't want Grant to be left out of the magic action. So he rigged him up with a prince cape he has, my ball cap, and a screwdriver for a wand. Oh, did you think he was going to share his new cape? He's only human, you know.

WOW! That's pretty dang fantastic for a first shot! You have more creative talent in your little finger than I have in my whole body, chickie, and I love it!!!

Nice work- dontcha just love the satisfaction from actually sitting down and DOING something you've been meaning to do for awhile? I always find that it turns out to not be nearly as hard as I thought, and am left wondering "What the heck took me so long???"

Thanks guys! And yes, Jen, it feels great to have actually done it. I was sooo nervous I was going to suck at it, and it ended up being way easier than I thought it would. Now I just have to make one for Grant and one for each of the build-a-bear workshop bears (our other children).
